The museum exhibits artifacts recovered from the 11th century pueblo, which is accessed by a self-guided interpretive trail. The national register site was excavated in the 1970's by professional archeologists exposing the fabulous architecture of the Chaco Culture, which flourished in the region, AD 850 to 1130. In addition, the Museum features the Salmon Family's pioneer homestead and Heritage Park, a series of replica habitations, establishing a "Time-Line" of cultures of the 4-Corners. Museum staff also provides professional tours to Chaco Canyon, Navato Pueblitos, and Rockart. Special tours for large groups and custom programs are available. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8-5; Saturday/Sunday, 9-5; Sunday Winter Hours (November to April), 12-5, Information; 505-632-2013; E-mail; SREDUCATION@SISMA.COM; www.salmonruins.com.
